Gareth Widdop (born 12 March 1989) is an English professional rugby league footballer who currently plays for the St. George Illawarra Dragons of the National Rugby League. Widdop primarily plays at five-eighth and fullback and is an England national representative. Widdop previously played for the Melbourne Storm between 2010 and 2013, with whom he won the 2012 NRL Premiership. ==Background== Born and brought up in Halifax, Yorkshire, Widdop played his junior rugby for King Cross before moving to Melbourne, Australia with his family at the age of 16 where he attended Bayside College. As a teenager Widdop went to the 2006 NRL Grand Final and continued to play in the Victoria Rugby League for Altona Roosters under his father Gary.
